The election is finally over. Although disgust is the first word that comes to mind, at least I am in a better place because there is at least a known variable in the equation at this point. Barring a major issue, it was a given Obama would win this referendum on the Bush presidency. It is the turn-out of new, usually uninvolved voters that makes the whole process so frustrating.
Voting should require at least some required display of knowledge of the candidates and their positions on major issues of our time. It disgusts me that many good conservative and Republican candidates lost their races due to straight party voting. Had people taken the time to review the issues affecting "down ballot" races, we would have a governor that would have provided the "change" NC desperately needs.
Maybe now that I am over this, I will have the ability to focus on my day to day life.

Miss Daisy is 4
Wow! It seems like just yesterday we were spending our first night together in the hospital. She still doesn't sleep all night and I am still tired, so I can't believe it has been 4 years since she was born.
The party went well and she seemed really surprised to receive her Barbie bike. I think we will be spending many evenings riding it up and down the street. Because she is fearless, she hopped right on it and acted like she had been riding them since she was born.
She also received her most requested gift, "diapers, wipes, and gloves". Well, according to her, she wants "glubes". We have changed Baby Cole-Colas diaper, don't ask about the Cole-Cola name, more than once today and she finally told her baby that she "just didn't understand" why she had to change her diaper so much. I about fell in the floor laughing at hearing her repeat my and Scott's exact words. She also gave Baby Cole-Cola a "what in the world" (complete with the hands on her hips) today. Thank goodness I have learned to watch what comes out of my mouth!!
Pictures should be coming in a few days.

Should we have bought the keg?
Scott mentioned getting a mini-key today when picking up snacks for Caroline's birthday party. Maybe we should have?
After spending the last few hours tapping into my Betty Crocker side, the oatmeal cookies are almost done. Now I have to clean the kitchen. Surely there has to be a button I can push that will take care of everything.
Caroline is still up and refusing to stay in her bed. I have already threatened to cancel the party. She thinks I am joking. Too bad the soccer game was canceled tonight. I planned on it wearing her out so that she would be easy to get into bed. She has on a pair of footed pajamas that are really too small. It is funny looking to watch her waddle in here with her hair pulled up. She has pajamas that fit, but refuses to take off the blue footies.
Scott needs to get started putting her bicycle together so that we are not up all night trying to interpret the drawings. An engineering degree would come in handy right now.
Maybe not getting the keg was a bad idea.

A New Level
We know I am pretty judgmental, but I think I have taken it to a new level. I have started making assumptions about people while reading their bumper stickers. My new favorite game is to look at a car, look at its political affiliation bumper stickers, and then speed up to get a good look at the driver to see if I had pinned the sex, race, general appearance, etc... correctly. Then based on the driver's appearance, I start assigning a history to that person. Yes, I spend way too much time on the road. I have gotten pretty good at guessing what the driver will look like, but I wonder how close I am with the history I assign the person.
Big Day
I am on vacation today in hopes of getting everything together for Caroline's birthday party this weekend. So far, nothing accomplished. How long will it take me to convince Scott that we need someone to clean the house for us?!? We did manage to make it to the store and order Daise's birthday cake. Still haven't picked up the present. Last minute as usual. Maybe we should start planning her 5th birthday party while handing out the party favors.
We were supposed to have a our first soccer game tonight, but it looks like the rain will get in the way. Guess that means I will have more time to get ready for the debate tonight. Is it strange that I want to have appetizers and beer for debate watching? Assuming the debate actually happens.
Must get to work!

Kitchen Confidential
I just finished reading "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain. Major secret, Anthony Bourdain is my super secret dirty celebrity crush. Smokes like a freight train, drinks with every meal, looks like he doesn't shower on a daily basis, but there is something irresistible about him.
The book wasn't as great as I had originally anticipated, but it provided a behind the scenes look at a chef's life. Based on the locker room atmosphere and trash-talking that found in the restaurants covered in the book, I should have considered a restaurant career.

Miss Daisy's New Toothbrush
Caroline has been stealing Scott's electric toothbrush over the past few days. I am not sure what took her so long to find it, but she has fallen in love with it. Who knew getting her to brush her teeth was this easy? :) Scott picked up a Hello Kitty electric toothbrush for her today. Based on her reaction, it is the best thing ever.
We had to put the toothbrush to bed tonight after we took the time to brush her dolls' teeth.... multiple times.

I'm back!
Ok, I decided to start writing again. For a while I considered and partially started writing about my goal to lose weight and work on my fitness. But, my life is more than that and it isn't really something I want to focus on each day.
So, this blog is back. Sharon at work will often tell my my stories (past, present, and most likely future) should be put in a book. She is probably right!
Get on me if I don't post on this thing fairly regularly!

Happy New Year!
Yes, I know it is a little past January 1.
Yes, all previous posts have been deleted. I decided that this blog would focus on me, my family, my friends, and my crazy, crazy life.
Enjoy
